Terms
Last updated October 22, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Marvo, operated by Strata Ventures LLC d/b/a Marvo (“Marvo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These Terms apply to all users.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Marvo in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using Marvo on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Marvo is a recommendation service. You tell Marvo your mood, which streaming services you have, and who’s watching. Marvo returns one title to watch. Marvo does not stream content — viewing happens on third-party platforms you subscribe to independently. Marvo is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a reseller of any streaming service.
Marvo may send you transactional communications by email and, for Group Vote invitations, by SMS. Message and data rates may apply to SMS. You can reply STOP to any SMS to opt out. See our privacy policy for the full opt-in, frequency, and opt-out terms.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Marvo. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 13 and that the information you provide is accurate, current, and complete. You agree to keep your account information up to date.
4. Account Registration and Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree not to share your credentials with any third party. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, notify us immediately at legal@marvo.app.
5. Beta Access
Marvo is currently in closed beta. During this period:
- Features may change, be paused, or be removed without notice;
- Access may be limited, invitation-only, or revoked at our discretion;
- Picks may be inaccurate, and streaming availability data may be incorrect or out of date;
- Service reliability is not guaranteed, and downtime may occur without advance warning.
Beta participation does not constitute a service-level agreement of any kind.
6. Subscription and Billing
Marvo is currently free during the beta period. When paid plans are introduced, billing terms — including pricing, billing cycle, cancellation policy, and refund terms — will be posted here and communicated to existing users before taking effect. Continued use of the service after new billing terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of those terms.
Household plans
A Marvo Plus subscription covers one household: the person who holds the subscription (the “owner”) and the people the owner invites who live with them, up to the number of member accounts and kid profiles shown in the app. A household may have at most 10 linked TVs.
When you invite someone to your household, you confirm that they live in your household. Household sharing is for people who live together. Marvo may remove a member who does not live in the owner’s household, limit household features, or end household sharing for an account that misuses it.
A member’s access through a household lasts only while they are a member and the owner’s subscription is active. If the owner cancels, access continues until the end of the owner’s current billing period. If a member leaves or is removed, their household access ends right away. Ownership of a household can be handed to another member only if that member accepts it and holds their own active subscription.
Joining a household does not cancel any subscription you pay for yourself. You remain responsible for your own subscription until you cancel it through the store where you bought it (for example, the subscription settings of your Apple account or Google Play). Marvo does not cancel subscriptions on your behalf.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Marvo to:
- Scrape, mirror, or systematically extract data from the service;
- Resell access to Marvo or build a competing service using Marvo’s output;
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, or any other technical controls;
- Upload watch-history files you do not own or do not have the right to use;
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose; or
- Transmit malicious code, viruses, or other harmful content.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these restrictions.
8. Intellectual Property
Strata Ventures LLC d/b/a Marvo owns all rights, title, and interest in the service, including the software, recommendation engine, user interface, branding, and all related intellectual property. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the service for your personal use. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership interest to you.
You retain ownership of the data you bring to Marvo, including your watch history and preferences. By submitting that data, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, and store it for the following purposes:
- To operate, provide, and improve the service;
- To train and improve our recommendation models and the systems that power Marvo’s picks;
- To produce aggregated and de-identified insights about entertainment trends, as described below.
We may de-identify your activity and combine it with information from other users to create aggregated insights. These aggregates are designed not to be reasonably linkable to you or your household, and we treat them as non-personal information. Marvo may use, license, or share these aggregated and de-identified insights for lawful business purposes — for example, helping studios, streamers, and creative partners understand industry trends. We contractually prohibit any partner that receives this information from attempting to re-identify users or combining it with other data to do so.
Studios, streamers, and other partners cannot pay to influence the picks Marvo recommends to you. Marvo does not sell or display ads, does not accept paid placement in recommendations, and does not sell your personal information.
9. User Content and Feedback
You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you import into Marvo. If you submit feedback, feature suggestions, or other communications about the service, Marvo may use that input to improve the service without any obligation or compensation to you.
10. Third-Party Content
Marvo surfaces ratings, posters, cast, and metadata from third-party platforms including IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, Letterboxd, The Movie Database (TMDB), and the streaming services you have active. That content remains the property of its respective owners. Marvo’s display of it does not imply any affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship from those owners.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Streaming availability data is provided by JustWatch, through TMDB. Marvo does not stream or host any film or show.
Ratings shown in Marvo are cached server-side and may not reflect the source platform’s current value at the time you view them. See the credits page for the full list of third-party attributions.
11. Recommendation Disclaimer
Each pick is a generated recommendation. The underlying model can be wrong about availability, runtime, content rating, or fit for your tastes. Verify before settling in.
12. Service Availability
Marvo is provided “as is.” We may change, pause, or retire features at any time. We try to give notice for material changes that affect existing users, but we do not guarantee any particular level of uptime or feature continuity.
13. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. MARVO DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.
14. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, STRATA VENTURES LLC D/B/A MARVO AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AND EMPLOYEES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100) OR THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Strata Ventures LLC d/b/a Marvo and its officers, directors, and employees from and against any third-party claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from: (a) your breach of these Terms, or (b) your misuse of the service. This indemnification obligation does not apply to claims caused by our own negligence or willful misconduct.
16. Force Majeure
Marvo is not liable for any delay or failure in performance caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including internet or infrastructure outages, third-party service failures, labor disputes, natural disasters, or acts of God.
17. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from the account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to Marvo at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. On termination, your right to use the service ends immediately and we may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
After deletion, identifiable information about you is removed on the timeline described in the Privacy Policy. Aggregated and de-identified insights produced before your account was deleted may be retained, because once aggregated they no longer identify you.
18. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights, including your right to file a lawsuit in court.
You and Marvo agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service (each, a “Dispute”) shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration, except for the carve-outs in this section. Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, as amended by these Terms. The arbitration will take place in Utah County, Utah, or by video or telephone if you prefer. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Class-action waiver. You and Marvo each agree that any Dispute will be brought only in your or our individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated, mass, or representative action. Neither you nor Marvo will participate in a class, collective, or representative proceeding against the other. If a court decides this class-action waiver is unenforceable as to any Dispute, that Dispute will be severed from arbitration and resolved in court; the rest of this section will remain in effect.
Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual action in small-claims court for any Dispute that qualifies. Either party may also seek injunctive or equitable relief in court to protect intellectual property rights, account security, or to enforce the Acceptable Use restrictions in Section 7.
30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing legal@marvo.app within 30 days of first accepting these Terms with the subject line “Arbitration opt-out” and including your account email. If you opt out, neither you nor Marvo will be required to arbitrate Disputes, and Section 19 (Governing Law) will govern any court proceedings.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Subject to Section 18, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Utah County, Utah. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
20. Changes to These Terms
If we change these Terms in a material way, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify you via email or an in-app notice before the change takes effect. Continued use of the service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
